Grandad - a tribute from his grandchildren

Created by Hannah one year ago
Our Grandad was a man who had a smile to brighten your days,
who always made you feel good with his warm words and praise.

He was someone who always had stories to tell:
from the shock of no cutlery at McDonald’s,
To the tales of his youth,
which he remembered so well.

Our Grandad was full of laughter and joy,
Always patient and kind,
The very best friend,
You could ever hope to find.

He knew each of us were unique,
but would call us “little rotters” if we ever gave him any cheek.

Our Grandad would make his round of weekly calls starting at 8am on a Sunday!
Wondering why we weren’t up and dressed
“I’ve been up since 6, you’re wasting the day” is something he would say.

He made us all promise that on our 18th birthdays we would buy him a beer.
His way of saying “I paid the admission and seen the show, now I’m getting my souvenir.”

When times got tough for him he was still able to make a joke.
Even lying on a hospital bed, asking the doctors, when could he go out for a smoke.

We were lucky to have him around for so many special occasions.
Christmases, Birthdays & Weddings,
he even got to meet the next generation.

There are so many things to say about our Grandad,
a list that could go on forever.
But for now we say our final goodbyes,
We love you, we adore you, and we will forget you never.
